"There are many things that make me the best candidate for this office and the campaign is just beginning. Over the next year, I look forward to showing you why I am the best person to be our Public Defender. Why I am the only candidate, with the service to our community, the right kind of leadership and who understands real responsibility. I am the best person to lead the Public Defender’s Office.
I understand responsibility. I am a mother. I have raised 5 children, I have led by example, teaching them about responsibility and giving back to their community. I have been the president of their High School Athletic Booster Club and volunteered for Big Brothers/ Big Sisters. There is no greater responsibility than a mother has to her children and nothing more rewarding. I will bring that same level of responsibility to the Public Defender's Office to serve the people of Volusia, St. Johns, Flagler and Putnam Counties. "
Anne Marie is from New York, she wasn't born here but she made our community her home over 20 years ago. She moved her family to St. Johns County in 1999 and it has been their home ever since. She has done more than make our community her home, she has served the people that live here, by volunteering, by giving back. She has devoted thousands of hours providing free legal services to those that cannot afford representation. She received the St. Johns County Legal Aid Award, more than once, for her commitment to provide free legal work to the poor, elderly, and disabled citizens of our community. She has committed her time and money to helping people in a way that no other candidate has.
After Anne Marie moved here over 20 years ago, she met the man that would become her husband, Bob Lindsey. He was a sergeant serving in the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office. It was not love at first sight but Bob, and his piercing blue eyes won her over. They now have a blended family and nothing is more important to Anne Marie. Family is her number one responsibility. As a mother, she has taught her children about responsibility and the importance service, by her own example.
She has taught them about starting businesses, budgeting, fiscal responsibility and giving back to the community you live in. Now she is a grandmother that gets to spoil little Nora.
Anne Marie shares our values and our priorities.
Anne Marie is the only candidate with real chief executive experience. She has owned and operated two successful businesses other than her law firm. She has created budgets, created jobs, hired and fired, and lived within that budget. Anne Marie is the ONLY candidate with two Master’s Certificates, one in Human Resource Management and a second in Government Contracting. That is important for this job.
The Public Defender is the chief executive of an office that oversees attorneys, staff and a budget of over 10 million dollars. We deserve someone that doesn’t need on the job training, someone who can hit the ground running and serve the people.
